SAP Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM) was implemented for our client for the first time to replace an existing group controlling tool. Due to the wide range of possible applications, PaPM was subsequently also used for other calculations in the area of finance. The main areas of application include
During implementation, it became apparent that, in addition to the technical requirements, the greatest challenge was the data connection of various interfaces.
A team with diverse expertise was crucial for the successful implementation of the project – from installation and technical modelling to testing, a wide range of knowledge was required. We were able to draw on the expertise of our developers for administration activities and ABAP coding. The PaPM environments were set up and tested by our modellers, who were responsible for the technical design and validation.
Thanks to our broad expertise, we were able to fill all the required roles. Suitable resources were also made available in project management roles for coordination and planning, which ensured high-quality results and timely implementation of the individual sub-projects. The project structure was designed within an agile framework and the resulting flexible planning and close collaboration ensured that it was possible to react quickly to changes in order to manage the individual project phases efficiently.
As a result, all sub-projects were completed on time, with further development of the individual topics being driven forward as part of follow-up projects. In addition, the use of PaPM in a wide range of areas also creates technological security in order to be prepared for future transformations, such as the switch to S/4HANA. Involving the business side in the modelling promoted close collaboration between the business departments and IT.
